Initial Makin's® Clay Book
I think Makin's® Clay is one of the most versatile products....the possibilities for using it seem almost endless.
I love notebooks of all kinds so I thought I would make a little one with a clay cover....
This is a quick and easy project and you can use Makin's® Texture Sheets or Rubber Stamps like I did....

I rolled out some white clay to about 1/8".
I placed my notebook on top of the clay and used the clay cutter to trim the clay to the size needed.
Then I glued the clay onto the cover, when doing this be sure to be generous with the glue and secure the edges securely....wipe excess with baby wipe if needed.
I used my EZ-De's 2" Flourish Alphabet Stamp Set to make the initial impression.
Then I stamped around the initial with one of my 2" Square Faux Quilting Stamps from Unity Stamp Company.
Continue until you like the design.
Then I turned over the notebook to trim away the excess clay.
I used my Crafter's Ink from Clearsnap to add color to the clay....
I liked the multicolor effect up close but really did not like it from a distance.....
So I went over the colors again with just the Berry color which gave the entire notebook more depth....
A quick and easy Makin's® Clay project....give it a try!

Tools:
Paint Brush,
Scissor, Paper Trimmer, Acrylic Block, KellyCraft Get-It-Straight Laser Square with 2 –
4 blocks the height of canvas (optional),
Pencil, Toothpick, Ziplock Bag, Baby Wipes
Instructions:
- Print saying of choice onto decorative paper.
- Apply gesso to front and edges of canvas, let dry.
- Using paper trimmer cut decorative paper to 7” x 9” being sure to keep in mind the area you want to use for your mosaic. Then cut this into seven 1” x 9” strips, be sure to keep these in the correct order. Then cut each strip into nine 1” x 1” squares. Lay each strip out onto workstation in order.
- Use 1” square stamp of choice to stamp pattern onto each square with popcorn ink; this will help give dimension; notice how some squares have more ink then the others, this is ok as it adds interest in the piece.
- Evenly space all of the mosaic pieces onto the canvas (optional: using the laser square as a guide) apply felt glue to the back of each 1” square using a toothpick, glue in place, let dry.
- Apply fast finish decoupage on top canvas with paint brush, let dry. Repeat twice.
- Roll clay out to about 1/8” thick, press stamp of choice into clay for texture.
- Cut clay with clay cutters; between 20 – 26 pieces.
- Apply a small amount of felt glue onto clay pieces with finger, let dry a few seconds (not completely) and apply foil onto clay pieces in small areas.
- Glue clay pieces onto edge of canvas and in areas desired on front with 527 multi use glue.
- Glue trim onto back of bottom edge of canvas with fabri-tac.
- Use Velcro® Removable Picture Hangers follow manufacturer's instructions to have canvas onto wall.
