I got a Makin's ultimate stainless clay extruder on 5/14/2014 and by 5/23/2014 the nut had striped out. I payed $61.17 for it. I have been doing clay for 15 years and I have used Makin's for most of that time, and the clay is always fresh and soft. I liked this model that's why I got it. I still think this model is the best out there,it just didn't work out for me. I will go back to the older Makin's model I was using, the head is broke off but for some reason it keeps working.
Sorry to hear you have encountered a problem with your Ultimate Clay Extruder®. The new generation of the stainless steel extruders are designed with the professional in mind and have been engineered to provide maximum performance and longevity. The Ultimate Clay Extruders® is warranted by the factory against defects. If you were not using the extruder in conjunction with a lever, vice or drill, I would recommend you return the extruder to the original place of purchase or contact Makin’s USA directly to see what options are available to repair or replace the extruder. You can contact Makin’s USA through their website contact page; http://www.makins-usa.com/contact_us.jsp.
