Faux Hammered Metal Celtic Knot Pendant by Cindi McGee 

Celtic knots come in a vast variety of unique shapes - each one with it’s own meaning.  This faux hammered metal pendant features the Celtic knot which symbolizes “Luck”, which makes it a perfect accessory for this season as St. Patrick's Day is soon approaching!  This project can be easily adapated for any fo the Celtic knots - simply find an example of one you like and use it as a guide as you form your pendant.  

Materials:

Makin’s Clay® - Persimmon 60g

Makin’s Professional® 

• Cutting Mat
• Ultimate Clay Extruder® - Disc #3
• Professional Clay Tools®

DecoArt® Americana® Multi-Surface Satin™ - Gold 

Fine paintbrush 

Jump ring, jewelry closure 

Black cording 

Instructions: 

Extrude approximately 30g of Persimmon Makin’s Clay® using the Makin’s Professional® Ultimate Clay Extruder® and Disc #3.  

Using a photo of a Celtic knot as a reference, begin shaping your knot with the extruded strand of clay. 

When the knot is complete, use a smooth flat surface (I used a piece of acrylic - but you could also use a book, etc.) to gently push down and just flatten the top of the knot.

Add to the “faux hammered metal” effect by using the large ball tool from the Professional Clay Tools® to impress indentations on all sides of the knot.   

Paint the knot with gold paint and let dry 24 hours. 

Add jump ring and cording, with jewelry closure, to the pendant.
