"Fall" Burlap Wall Hanging with Makin's Clay®

FALL Burlap Panel Canvas
Designed by Steph Ackerman
Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here thinking of Fall.  Now that school has started (or is about to start), Fall is not too far away.  I love the colors of fall and the different textures so I created a burlap panel Fall wall hanging.

Supplies:

Makin's Clay®

Makin's Professional®

Beacon Adhesives  - 3-in-1 Craft Glue
Earth Safe Finishes Gesso
Molding Paste
Prima Marketing Stencil
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist
Burlap Panels

Instructions:
Prepare your burlap panels
I began by painting gesso on the burlap panels.  Colors added directly on top of burlap do not show but add gesso first and your colors will shine.  I used an assortment of paints as well as Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists to achieve the look I desired.  Molding paste through a stencil added some dimension to the panels.

I partially blended 3 of the colors from Earth Tones clay together.
Next, I rolled out the clay using the Roller and cut out FALL using the Alphabets cutter set.

Cut your letters
I reworked the left over clay and mixed in some red clay so I could create an assortment of leaves from the Leaves Push Mold.

Next I mixed some orange paint with yellow clay.  Using the Roller, I rolled out the clay on the cutting mat then placed the Screen texture sheet on top.  Using the Roller, I created some nice texture.
To create the pumpkins, I used 2 different sized Oval clay cutters, cutting 3 pieces for each pumpkin.  While the clay was damp I assembled the pumpkins then added a small stem from Olive green clay.

Make your pumpkins
Extrude green clay
For the spirals, I extruded Olive green clay with the Ultimate Clay Extruder™ and multi-hole disc #6, then wrapped the extruded lengths around a needle to create the spirals.
I punched holes in the panels and tied them together.  Then I mounted all the clay pieces on the panels using Beacon™ 3-in-1 Adhesive.  I pinched the leaves to give them some shape.   Then I added extruded spirals to the pumpkins.  On the top panel I added the letters FA.

Top canvas
On the lower panel I added the letters LL.  Placing the leaves in the corner, I pinched the top leaf.  Then I formed the pumpkins so one lays on top of the other.  For some additional dimension, I dabbed some orange paint to the edges of the pumpkins, then added the spirals and another leaf.

Dabs of 3-in-1 Adhesive were used to hold the spirals in place.

I hope I've inspired you to create something for Fall today.  Remember to stop by the blog often as we have lots to share.

Thanks for stopping by today!
