Hello Makers!
Stir things up! When I hear this phrase, a couple of
things come to mind; to cause trouble or do things differently with the goal of
moving towards a positive direction. I like to think of it as the latter.
However, today I invite you to stir things up with an altered plastic spoon
project. For this project all you need is a plastic spoon and Makin’s Clay and
simply paint and embellish. You can make wall hanging out of it, display in a
shadowbox or as use it part of an art project.
Materials:
- Makin's
Clay®–
White
- Makin's Professional®
- Cutting Mat
- Professional Clay Tools
- Makin's®–
Texture Sheet Set H
- Imagine-VersaMagic-Turquoise
Gem
- Imagine-MementoLuxe-Morocco,
Wedding Dress
- Alphabet
Rubber Stamps
- Acrylic
Paint-White
- Art Minds Wax-Slate
- 24 Gauge
Copper Wire
- Beads
- Sculpey Clay
Sealer or Verathane Polyurethane Satin Sealer
Instructions:
Flatten the clay slightly with your hands. Apply glue to the spoon.
Cover
the spoon with clay. Smooth the clay with your fingers. Use a little water to
help you smooth the clay.
Stamp
sentiment in center. Stamp/texture the handle as well as the back of the spoon.
Let the spoon cure for 24 hours.
Paint
a coat of white acrylic paint. This will help to coat the clay, helpful when
antiquing later. Apply the wax with a brush wipe off, leaving paint in the
recessed areas only.
Apply
the Imagine’s; VersaMagic Turquoise and MementoLuxe-Morocco and Wedding Dress
inks with your fingers or sponge dauber.
Embellish
the spoon by wire wrapping beads with 24 gauge copper wire. Other ways to
embellish is to wrap ribbon or string around the handle, add charms, and findings.
Well
I hope you like this project and get to the courage to stir things up today!
