Glazed Poppy Pendant by Cindi McGee made with Makin's Clay®

Glazed Poppy Pendant

I love the effect of tinted Diamond Glaze™ on Makin's Clay® - it reminds me of fired ceramics.   Tinting is easy, there are a variety of coloring options, two of which I'm sharing today.    

Materials:

Makin’s Clay® - White 

Makin’s® Clay Tools - Roller 

Makin’s® Cutting Mat

Makins® Clay Cutter Set - Oval 

Poppy rubber stamp - Stampin Up®

Clearsnap® ColorBox® Surfacez® Ink - Black 

JudiKins™ Diamond Glaze™ 

Food coloring - red, blue 

Ranger® Adirondak Alcohol Ink - Bottle Green 

Fine paintbrushes 

Jump ring, closure

Red ribbon

Jewelry pliers, pin/needle to make hole 

Instructions:

Roll white Makin’s Clay® using clay roller to about 1/8” thick. 

Use largest oval clay cutter to cut oval.  Let dry about 1 hour. 

Ink poppy stamp with Surfacez® permanent black ink pad and stamp onto clay oval.  Let dry. 

Use pin to make hole at top of pendant for jump ring. 

Mix small amount of Diamond Glaze™ with one drop red food coloring.  

Use fine paintbrush to paint red glaze onto poppy petals.  

Mix small amount of Diamond Glaze™ with one drop Bottle green alcohol ink.

Use fine paintbrush to paint stem, center of poppy, partial leaf and seed pod. 

Mix small amount of Diamond Glaze™ with one drop blue food coloring.  

Use fine paintbrush to paint blue glaze around poppy.   Let dry. 

Paint back of pendant with blue glaze.  Let dry. 

Let clay dry 24 hours.    Add jump ring.

Add ribbon and add closure to ends of ribbon.
