My Ever Changing Heart

You NEVER know what beneath and our hearts are EVER changing.

This statement necklace is only about 1 ½ inches wide and 2 ½ inches high, but it has a big fun impact!

I had a blast using alcohol inks for the 1^st time on Makin's Clay®. I love that Makin’s Clay® is so flexible that is the only way I could pull off this particular design.

Materials:

Makin's Clay® - 1 oz of white and black

Alcohol inks in assorted colors

Black acrylic paint

Mica powder

1 small brad

Wax paper

Small piece of cardboard 1 ½ X 2 ½

Long 2 inch eyelet

Chain of choice and length

Makin’s® Professiona™Tool Set - I used these attachments Textures dart board, lines, star, and dot

Clay cutters graduted sizes the medium circle and the small heart

Makin’s® Professional™ Ultimate Clay Machine

Instructions:

First mix the black with the majority of the white clay (hold back a small marble size of white for later )

Roll this out on setting 2 of your Makin’s® Professional™ Ultimate Clay Machine.

Make it a long 3 inch wide strip.

Then layout on your Makin’s® cutting mat and place your cobblestone texture sheet over it.

Rub until your see that it is evenly placed with the pattern. Lift the texture sheet gently from the clay.

** hint sometimes wait a few minutes for the clay to start to set up to avoid any distortions**

I wrapped a 1 ½ inch by 2 ½ inch cardboard with wax paper to use as a blank for the shape.

Wrap your textured clay around this form and trim as needed.

Seal the back of the piece using the shading tool. I like this tool better with the textures to insure that

the piece is well sealed. Please note I have overlapped the 2 ends on the top of the piece over

the eyepin that I will use to hang the pendent from a chain.

Now time to size up the cutters.

Note how I laid out the cutters to verify that they will be spaced correctly.

The circle cutter will be used on the disc of white clay.

Cut out the heart and add the paint and mica powder at this time and then set this aside to dry.

NOW onto the color wheel!

Cut out the disc with the circle cutter and section it off like a pie.

Each section is then to be textured and colored in a different way.

I really enjoyed the alcohol inks I will being using them again!

To assemble the pendent -

Pierce holes on the disc with a pin then line up the disc where it will sit in the cobblestone pendent

and pierce the hole for the brad into the TOP LAYER only of the cobblestone.

Since Makin’s Clay® is soooo FLEXIBLE after it is cured, you can easily press the top and bottom of the pendent to billow out the sides to get the brad in place and secured.

Each spin of the disc will show a new color scheme! One to match each mood or each outfit you choose!
