Altered Paper Clips & Push Pins by Martha Lucia Gomez

PAPER CLIPS & PUSH PINS

Designed by Martha Lucia Gomez

Hi everyone, the school year is around the corner and this month our challenge is create a school project to share with you. My daughters are teenagers and they love to use paper clips and push pins on their boards, this is why I decided to made these for this occasion.

Materials:

Makin’s Clay® - White and Black
                         - Ultimate Clay Machine™
                         - Ultimate Clay Extruder™
                         - Cutting Mat
                         - Sun Cutter Set
Daffodil Delight Refill Ink
Real Red Refill Ink
Beacon™ Quick Grip Adhesive
Jumbo Paper Clips
Push Pins
Scissors

Instructions:

Mix White Clay with some drops of Daffodil Delight Ink to change the color to yellow.

Roll the new yellow clay to setting #3 on the Ultimate Clay Machine™ and using the bigger Sun from the Cutter Set to cut several pieces in pairs. If you want you can also cut smaller suns to use for the push pins.

Take two Suns and put the top of the jumbo paper clip between them. Be careful to place on the correct side so you can open the clip. I lost one of mine for this reason! For the push pins, you only need to put together two small suns. If the suns are dry you can use a few drops of water to paste these.

Cut a small piece of black clay and roll into log shape to fit inside Ultimate Clay Extruder™. Insert into extruder, add a small one hole disc and extrude.

Place the extruded clay decorating the borders of the suns for both sides and repeat the process to create the decorated letters and numbers. In this case I just mixed white clay with a few drops of real red refill ink and used a bigger hole disc. Let the jumbo paper clips dry for around 24 hours.

To finalize the decoration of the push pins, you can create small rollers with the new red clay and paste them on the center of the sun using a drop of water. Then using a Quick Grip Adhesive to paste the push pin to the back of the sun. Let these dry for around 24 hours.

When all these pieces are totally dry, you can sand the borders and they are ready to use with your school supplies.

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon!!!
