Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here with my first post as a member of the Makin's Clay® Design Team. I am so thrilled to be working with Makin's Clay® products and the talented members of this team. My mind is reeling with the possibilities of what can be created with Makin's Clay®.
My first project is a frame that was inked, stamped and painted, then decorated with embellishments created with Makin's Clay® products.
Materials:
Wooden frame
Makin's Clay® - White, Vineyard Tones
- Clay Mixing Ruler
- Flower Push mold
Earth Safe Finishes Pearl Iridescents
KellyCraft™ EZ-De's Flourish 2" Alphabet Stamps by Ann Butler Designs
ColorBox Crafter's Ink for Ann Butler - Berry
ColorBox Background Basics for Ann Butler
My Mom loved pinks and purples so those are the colors I chose to create with. She also loved her roses so I wanted to incorporate roses on the frame.
Instructions:
Makin's Clay® has a wide variety of colored clay, but it quite easy to create your own colors. Since I felt the purple clay was a bit too dark I used the Makin's Clay® Mixing Ruler to mix white and purple clays to create this lovely shade of lavender. The Ruler makes it easy to determine how much clay is needed to create a secondary color. Check out the colors side by side.
Once mixed, I placed the clay in the Floral Makin's Push Mold to create flourishes and roses for the frame. It only takes a few moments to create the embellishments, then push them out of the mold and create some more.
Letting the embellishments dry for 24 hours gives the clay the time needed to cure. Then just adhere them to the frame. To give the roses some sheen, I rubbed Pearl Iridescents from Earth Safe Finishes on top.
MOM was stamped with ColorBox Crafter's Ink for Ann Butler in Berry. Around it I lightly stamped ColorBox Background Basics for Ann Butler in Berry Ink, creating a subtle background.Add the panel inside the frame and a lovely frame is ready for gifting.
Makin's Clay® has a wide variety of products and tools to create some amazing projects. What will you create with Makin's Clay® today?
Steph
