Memories of a Princess Frame
by Madeline Arendt
The inspiration came from seeing the latest Disney version of the classic fairy tale, "Cinderella" with them. While visiting Disney World last Spring with the girls and their parents, I captured the instant moments when they met each of the "Princesses" during our visit. Wanting to create a keepsake that included a special photo and elements from the new movie, I combined elements for the finished frame. Creating this little keepsake frame to commemorate two occasions with my youngest grandchildren was fun with the help of Makin's Clay®.
Materials:
Makin's Clay® - Multi-Color Pack
- Tool Set
Metal Edge Ruler
Tiny Circle Clay Cutter
Sizzix® Frame Easel by Eileen Hull
Scoreboard Sheet
Decorative Paper Sheet

Earth Safe Finishes Sheer Gold Pearl Iridescent Paint by Ann Butler
Ranger Perfect Pearls™ - Interference Blue/Perfect Pearl
Ranger Liquid Pearls™ - Daffodil
Wooden Craft Picks
White Rick-Rack, Narrow
Beacon's™Premium Tacky Glue
Brushes
Three Paper Brads
Instructions:
Use the clay mixing ruler to combine two colors to make the textured sheet for the front of the frame.
I mixed this combination twice to create a sheet large enough for the frame.
I mixed this combination twice to create a sheet large enough for the frame.
Lay the clay sheet onto the desired texture sheet, press or gently use the roller to make the impression into the clay. NOTE: Allow for some shrinking of the clay sheet when dry.
Use the small flower cutter to cut the shape from remaining blue clay. Use the tip of the plastic tool to make a faint impression of petals onto the clay.
Roll out white clay to about 1/8" or slightly less thickness. Use the medium and small butterfly cutters to make several shapes. Before allowing to dry, cut wooden craft picks as shown for the bodies of the butterflies. NOTE: The picks can be cut with scissors. Lightly sand the cut ends to shape. Allow all the clay pieces to dry as recommended by the manufacturer.
Once the clay pieces were dry, I gave the clay butterflies a coat of Sheer Gold Pearl Iridescent paint. When the paint was dry, I brushed each with some Perfect Pearl powder to give them a little added shimmer. To add a bit of sparkle to the blue frame and flowers, brush on Interference Blue Perfect Pearls to the pieces. Spray the decorative paper with an adhesive and place onto mat-board sheet. Die-cut the Easel Frame from a Scoreboard sheet. Trim the textured clay sheet to fit the front of the frame using the Makin's Clay® Craft Knife and steel-edge ruler.
Using Beacon's Tacky Glue, on the backside, trim the four outside edges with the narrow, white rick-rack and the inner opening of the frame.
Add photo to the backside of the frame. Glue the clay frame to the front of the easel frame. Weight the frame with a heavy book to keep flat and till dry.
To finish embellishing the frame, punch tiny leaves from green paper scraps. Glue leaves, flowers and butterflies onto the frame in desired fashion. Create a computer generated verse (this verse is taken from the new movie) on paper and cut and glue to a toothpick and glue into the top of the frame as shown. Present it to any "special lady" young or old!
