Creating with Makin's Clay® and Sizzix

You can do amazing things with Makin's® No Bake Polymer Clay just look at this house that was created using Eileen Hull's ScoreBoard Pro House die and Makin's® No Bake Polymer Clay!

I made this using the following:
#65279; Sizzix Scoreboards Pro Die - House, 3D, by Eileen Hull
Sizzix 12x12 matboard, white
Sizzix Big Shot Pro die cutting machine
Makin's® Texture Sheets Set A & Set D

Above is a close up of the detail where you can see the texture of the clay that was achieved using the texture sheets.  You could make several houses and create a wonderful Christmas Village for the upcoming holidays! - Ann Butler

Good Enough to Eat Gingerbread Cottage featuring Makin's Clay®

Makin's Clay® was used to transform a matboard die-cut house into a "good enough to eat" Gingerbread House which is illuminated using tiny Christmas tree lights.  The original matboard Eileen Hull's Sizzix Scoreboard Pro House 3D
was decorated entirely with coverings and embellishments made with Makin's Clay®.  Judikin's Diamond Glaze added a bit of shine to some of the candy pieces and Plaid Dimensional Magic was added to give dimensional shine to the lollypops.  Sugared gumdrops created with tiny glass marbles topped it off.  This is one gingerbread cottage that will satisfy any sweet tooth for years to come.  - Cindi Bisson

Earth Safe Finishes Eco Epoxy on Makin's Clay®

I textured a piece of Makin's ® No Bake Polymer Clay with a stamp, added some Earth Safe Finishes Metallic Powders and left it with Nancy at the Earth Safe Finishes Studios.

Now....Look at that shine....Nancy was testing how Earth Safe Finishes Eco Epoxy would brush onto surfaces and brushed some onto the clay piece I had left, look at that shine....so easy and beautiful!

Chunky Makin's Clay® Necklace

While this project was originally created as a lanyard for CHA - it would also make a unique accent necklace.  It’s chunky, rich toned colors and bit of fiber fringe would be great layered over a cozy sweater.    Create it in pastel or bright tones, use a bit of cheerful ribbon instead of fiber, and it would be a funky accent over a spring or summer t-shirt.   The best part is it could not be easier to create.  All you need is a multi-color package of Makin’s Clay®, good sharp heavy scissors like Westcott Titanium Non-Stick scissors, and fiber or ribbon.   I used Vineyard Tones clay that was actually old, outdated and had been accidentally left in storage in my attic.  I could have reconstituted it with water (another great thing about Makin’s Clay®), but instead I used it in the brick form it was already dried in and sliced it into beads with the heavy scissors.  The fiber was strung onto an upholstery needle and then pushed through the center of the square beads.  To re-create this technique if you don’t happen to have old, outdated, dried clay bricks (gee, who wouldn’t have those around in their creative stash?) first open the box of clay, and remove the individual colors from the outside packaging.  Carefully remove packaging from individual colors (if clay sticks to packaging during removal, you can hand form your bricks again - I liked the random effect on the sides of the dried clay so don’t create perfectly smooth bricks unless you desire that effect.   Let dry at least overnight.   Carefully slice into chunks using heavy scissors.  String onto ribbon or fiber in desired pattern, allowing space between each cluster of beads so ribbon/fiber shows.  Add closure mechanism and your finished.   - Cindi Bisson

Fabulous Rolled & Stamped Beads

The fact that these terrific rolled beads happen to be made in some of my favorite colors just makes them all the more appealing to me.  However, they’d be just as fun done in any color combination. and stamped with any pattern (think Autumn colors and leave stamps.... shades of icy blue and white with snowflake stamps).  Artist Judy Belcher blended green and blue clays, rolled it with the Ultimate Clay Extruder, then rubber stamped each before rolling.  Silver metallic leafing pen accents on the edges sets the design off perfectly.

We encourage you to try this technique with Makin's Clay® and share your projects with us on our Makin's Clay® Facebook Page!

Get Scooting with Makin’s Clay®!

Makin’s Clay® requires no baking - it air dries - making it perfect for applications that oven bake clays simply would not be suited to.   This example is one of the most ingenious I’ve seen yet - Judi Weers decorated her motorized scooter with Makin’s Clay®!   Now THAT’s thinking out of the box!  - Cindi Bisson
